Three Canadian Technical Asphalt Association scholarships were awarded again this year under the categories of Applied, Undergraduate, and Graduate. The awards are each for $2,000 and are intended to assist those individuals pursuing studies in asphalt technology.
Meet the Winners
Valentina Maldonado
Applied Technology Scholarship Winner
École de Technologie Supérieur
Valentina says (in part) on winning the scholarship “… I am extremely grateful for this scholarship. In fact, it means the world to me to be recognized and helped during my study time. Indeed, this scholarship means to me more than anyone can imagine…”
Jackson Gagnon
Undergraduate Scholarship Winner
University of British Columbia (Okanagan)
I would like to thank the Canadian Technical Asphalt Association for awarding me with their undergraduate scholarship. This scholarship is a great help towards my tuition and will let me focus my energy into my Civil Engineering studies.
Matthew MacEachern
Graduate Scholarship Winner
University of New Brunswick
“Thank you CTAA for this award. I am entering my second year of my graduate studies at the University of New Brunswick. My research involves the use of recycled asphalt shingles as an additive to granular sub-base for road construction in the province of Prince Edward Island. If this research is successful it will reduce granular import costs for the province as well as reduce the volume of shingles that are buried in the province’s landfills each year. I thank you again for this award and ensure that it will be put to good use.”
