The 67th annual conference was held in Kelowna BC after two years of online gatherings. The conference was a successful exchange of technical information.
The conference was held over 4 days, Nov 5-9, and attended by over 250 delegates. Attendance was not without incidence as Kelowna experienced un-seasonable snow conditions and West Jet had a major glitch both of which delayed (and in some cases even prevented) delegates’ attendance. But if you were late fear not! In addition to being able to review the papers in the proceedings (or online), the presentations were recorded – these should be available in the next week to 10 days in the Workspace area of the members portal (as ore the prior virtual conferences) and will allow registered delegates to revisit the presentations and the Q&A.
The conference started off with the Course on Emulsified Asphalt Technology presented by Brett Lambden, Darren Anweiler, and Clint Heglin. Almost 90 delegates registered for the course.
A huge thank you to Brett and his colleagues for organizing and presenting the course.
The course was recorded and will be available to course attendees in the coming weeks.
Following the course, the opening CUPGA workshop had the Theme of Pavement Resiliency, Planning for the future and the idea of the Industry moving towards being Carbon Neutral.
The contractor’s workshop focused on the Efficiency in Roadway Construction and included discussions on autonomous equipment operation.
Social activities included the welcome reception held at SandHill Winery where members enjoyed their first face-to-face meeting in over two years allowing delegates to catch up with colleagues from near and far. These interactions were further promoted with hospitality suites on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
