64th CTAA AGM & Conference

Posted by Shara - December 18, 2019 - AGM, Awards, News

The 64th annual conference was held in Montreal on November 24-28 and was attended by about 275 delegates including over 25 student members.

The delegates along with 20 accompanying guests enjoyed the conference and local areas. For those members who were not able to attend the conference, the technical proceedings were mailed before Christmas.

The pre-conference course this year was a combined presentation on Cold Weather Pavement Performance, presented by Guy Dore, and Mechanistic Pavement Design, presented by Felix Doucet. There were over 90 registrants for the course which was split into English and French presentations. Once again, we received very positive feedback from all attendees. The CTAA would like to thank Guy and Felix who put together and presented this course on their own time, it is through such efforts that we continue to provide a forum for the exchange of relevant technical information. This was also the 2nd time that Felix and Guy had teamed up to present these topics, having also delivered the course content at the 2011 Conference in Quebec City.

For the first time this year, the conference hosted a Student Poster Competition and had an amazing 21 participants including the University of Alberta, the University of Waterloo, ETS, and Memorial University. The student posters were well received and showed a wide range of studies from students across Canada. Special thanks are due to Alan Carter who orchestrated the entire exhibition while co-chairing the conference local arrangements committee.

The top student poster was judged by a panel and awarded a plaque of recognition during the Robert Nobel Awards Luncheon on the last day of the conference.
