66th Annual Conference and AGM
November 15 – 18, 2021
The 66th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting was planned to be held in Charlottetown in beautiful Prince Edward Island.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 is still providing too much uncertainty and the Board of Directors has decided the risk of a live conference is too great (given the amounts of dollars that have to be guaranteed to the hotel) – so the conference will once again be held as an online event.
The format will be the same as last year with speakers answering questions live from submissions of attendees. The Conference will be held from Monday, November 15th to Thursday, November 18th, 2021.
The technical course this year is entitled ‘Field Placement & Compaction of Asphalt Pavements’ will be presented by Todd Mansell of Caterpillar Paving Products. This course will be interesting to all of you involved in either placing asphalt pavements or specifying requirements.
The CTAA pre-conference workshop will include Regional Reports from the Directors on Sustainable Pavement Technologies across the country and will be followed up with New WMA data and a Case Study on Sustainable Pavement Technologies.
The Contractors’ Workshop, to be held on Wednesday afternoon, will focus on Sustainable Impacts to Achieve Durability of RAP Mixes.
This year’s technical program, as always, promises to deliver interesting and varied content. Abstracts of all the papers to be presented are included on the web site.
We are looking at how we might improve on the social interactions to allow the networking that is such an important part of the conference experience. We are even looking at holding a virtual wine tasting experience. How that will be accomplished remains to be seen but we are excited that there will be some valuable networking opportunities. Those that took part last year found them beneficial so we would encourage you to participate this year.
The Annual General Meeting will be held prior to the start of technical sessions on Tuesday morning.
