This course will cover various aspects of gravel/chip sealing systems (sometimes referred to as seal coats or surface dressing) by considering site assessment and sealing system selection. Asphalt materials selection and compatibility with chosen aggregates will be covered as well as items related to application rates and construction timing.
The proper use and set up of equipment and construction processes will be reviewed as well as Quality (QA/Inspection). The course will conclude with a discussion on contracting methods such as warranties and specifications/standards as well as recent technical developments.
The course is intended for anyone who would like to learn more about designing or constructing various chip/gravel seal systems.
