Posted by Shara - August 5, 2022 - Awards, Scholarship

Meet the Winners

Manal Kazi
Undergraduate Scholarship Winner
Toronto Metropolitan University (Formerly known as Ryerson University)

“Please accept my gratitude wholeheartedly for selecting me as the 2022 Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient. I am truly appreciative for being chosen for this award.

This scholarship will help me fund my semester for my final year which focuses on transportation and construction materials. I first started developing an interest in asphalt in my second year when materials were introduced. I then started my journey in the industry through my course labs which also included pavement design and analysis alongside with asphalt technology. Fortunately, I landed a Co-Op in May of 2021 in an asphalt design lab at AECON and was called back this year May to continue another term. Working here has solidified my interests and inspired me to be apart of this promising industry even after my graduation. I am looking forward to graduate soon and serve this industry with my knowledge and technical skills to design better roads which are more sustainable and cost-effective.

I am sure that you know, your generosity will go a long way for students like me. Thank you again for your confidence in me and rooting for our dreams CTAA.”

Mohamed Saleh
Graduate Scholarship Winner
University of Alberta

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Canadian Technical Asphalt Association for making the CTAA Graduate Scholarship possible and for supporting excellence. I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honor, and I am deeply appreciative of your support; it will go a long way in enhancing my journey towards a career in asphalt pavement design and technology.

I am a current PhD student in pavement engineering at the University of Alberta. The financial assistance you provided will be of great help to me in paying my tuition fees over the next academic year, and it will allow me to concentrate more of my time on researching sustainable and durable asphaltic materials on Canadian roads.

Thank you again for your generosity and support. I look forward to being part of CTAA and I aim to work very hard and eventually give back to others, as a teaching assistant, researcher and a future professional engineer.”
