Call for Nominations – CTAA Board of Directors

Nominations are now open for CTAA Board of Directors positions. Members may nominate themselves or another eligible member.

Nominations are accepted annually from May through August 30.

This process supports the election of Regional Directors and the 2nd Vice President, with positions filled on a rotating regional schedule. All nominations will be reviewed for eligibility, and candidate information will be shared with the membership during the election period.

To support prospective candidates, a Regional Director FAQ outlining the role, responsibilities, and nomination process is included below.

  • Go to Forms and select 2026 Nomination Form

Regional Director FAQs

What is the term length?

Regional Directors serve a 2-year term and may run for a second term.

Is this a paid position?

No. This is a volunteer leadership role and no remuneration is provided by the association.

How is the position filled?

Regional Directors are elected by the membership during the annual election process.

Which positions are elected each year?

Board elections follow a rotating schedule:

Odd-Numbered Years

Elections are held for:

  • 2nd Vice President
  • Atlantic Provinces Director
  • Ontario Director
  • Alberta Director

Even-Numbered Years

Elections are held for:

  • 2nd Vice President
  • Quebec Director
  • Prairies Director
  • British Columbia Director

Who is eligible for nomination?

To be eligible for nomination:

  1. The nominee must be a CTAA member in good standing.
  2. Nominees for Regional Director positions must reside in the applicable region.
  3. Nominees for 2nd Vice President should have previous Board experience.
  4. Members may self-nominate or be nominated by another member.
  5. All nominations must be submitted by August 30 of the election year.

Is there an opportunity to move into Executive roles?

Yes. After completing a first or second term, Regional Directors may choose to run for an Executive position, though this is not required.

What is the time commitment?

Board members participate in:

  • Three in-person meetings per year
    • Mid-Year Meeting (weekend; travel required, meals provided)
    • Incoming Board Meeting at the annual conference
    • Outgoing Board Meeting at the annual conference
  • Bimonthly virtual Board meetings

Are there conference responsibilities?

Yes. Regional Directors are expected to deliver a 20-minute presentation at the annual conference on a topic relevant to their region or the industry.

What does a Regional Director do?

Regional Directors are voting members of the Board and help guide the governance, direction, and overall health of the association.

Are Regional Directors involved in committees?

Yes. Directors participate in one or more committees, such as:

  • Scholarship
  • Student Poster
  • Education & Training
  • Membership
  • Technical Program
  • Nominating
  • Bylaws
  • Executive (where applicable)

What is involved in abstract evaluation?

Each February, Board members assist with reviewing and evaluating technical abstracts submitted for the annual conference.

How do nominations work?

Nominations are accepted between May and June and require:

  • A short candidate bio
  • Signatures from two members in good standing

Candidate information is then posted for membership review.

When does the election take place?

Elections are held between August and September.

When does the term officially begin?

Successful candidates begin their term at the Incoming Board Meeting during the annual conference in November.
